UBI
Purpose:
In order to show that a Fiat backed currency can be desired and establish an INFLATION based UBI.
Thesis:
There is one thing that money can’t buy and that is honor and status.
In order to establish the idea that a pure voluntary fiat is capable of existing for longer than a session of the board game monopoly, It is my recommendation that Socialite Clubs establish themselves around this central premise. In this document you should find a rough outline for the structure and order of such a society, as well as answers to some problems and solutions that may be encountered.
There are only Two mandatory positions of power that must exist. That is the office of President and Treasurer. It is recommended that a clubs start with no less than 5 members.
The Club should form around any number of shared and voluntary interests. It is preferred that they do not associate upon the promise of mutual aid as by mutual aids very nature there will be those in want incapable or lacking talent for self governance seeking membership.
Examples of activities a club may form around,
Sports leagues from fantasy football -> sponsoring/playing of pickleball.
Enthusiast hobbies: Board Games, Video Games, Book Club, Motorcycles.
Etc.
Whatever the Club forms around should be oriented as a leisure activity and of affordable expense for all potential members. This means that unless Polo and Skiing become activities of the masses, it is recommended that cost be considered.
After a club has formed, Elected it’s First President and appointed it’s First Treasurer, It may begin collecting dues and issuing it’s own club fiat currency. Numbers listed here are examples and should be changed as the club sees prudent, documented appropriately and publicly.
Example Club:
Hell’s Readers is a bi-weekly book club.
They have the additional requirement of attendance as part of their “in good standing” clause. Members are allowed to miss 2 meetings per quarter and remain “in good standing”. More than 4 missed meetings or a total of 12 in a two year period will automatically remove an offender from club membership.
Club dues: $5 a month
Club UBI: 5-HR Bucks a week to All Dues Paying Members
The only official use of HR Bucks is for bids on the clubs next read.
They have decided on a silent bidding system to determine which book will be read next. Where only the lowest and the winning bids are taken from members. In the event of a tie for the winner, bidding will be suspended until both or all books have been covered. It is the Presidents job to count bids and keep in confidence the identity of the bidders. Failure to keep information in confidence, is grounds for special election to remove the President.
The HR bucks collected from the lowest and highest bidder, will be destroyed and their serial numbers retired.
This has been an example of what works best as a small club. If the club grew beyond what would be a reasonable size for a bi-weekly book club, It should in good order start founding additional chapters. For example, when the Club grows beyond 20 members before reaching 30 members additional chapters should be considered. Creating 2 new chapters with at least 10 members, a Chapter President and a Chapter Treasurer. The HR bucks must remain consistent and interchangeable between both chapters.
How could a club incentivize it’s members trade HR Bucks amongst themselves in lue of $
While I think that so long as the clubs membership remains dedicated to fellowship and their shared passion of reading this system works just fine. However if you wish to put a higher demand on HR Bucks, then additional services from the club could be offered. Personally I recommend that a club engage in an annual or semi-annual activity of high social value. For this book club I would recommend that they seek to hold a public reading and Q&A with authors that are selected through the Club’s bidding process. Additionally regardless of the Club a Cash burning ceremony is always a good idea, where the person who pays the most HR Bucks gets to be the Grand Poo-Hah or Great Queen of Letters, or whatever title the Club finds appropriate. Being treated like Royalty for a day is a worthy reward for removing inflation based currency from the system.
Why should their be Additional incentives to spend a Club’s UBI?
By creating additional incentives, you’ve created additional demand for a Club’s Currency. Honestly I see much of this demand being filled by friendly games of poker or skill, between club members. For it gives them something of value to wager, without affecting a members financial pride. But It could result in trades of services and favors, backed by one persons Club Bucks.
“Hey Steve, you are really good at finding the best trip packages and I’d like to surprise my wife for her birthday. Can you help?”
“Just give me 50 HR bucks and I’ll get you the links, Jody. For 80HR plus cost, I’ll book it for you.”
In the above transaction Steve would have likely done it for free, had he not had a strong desire for HR Bucks. Doing it this way does not create a favor debt owed by Jody and removes much stigma from the interaction.
Why should we trade favors when we can trade a social currency?
