I’ve been watching the Darkstreams recently and I have to give my thanks for Vox Day’s Socio-Sexual Heirarchy. It has lead me to a deeper understanding of male hierarchy, as opposed to the binary Alpha/Beta pick up artist mode.
Vox is unwilling to acknowledge his own Gamma traits and that is why he won’t accept the possibility of a Gamma becoming a Sigma.
I will be referencing the blog post breakdown as well as Graduating Gamma.
Let me disclose my own bias’s as best as I can.
- I believe that anyone can become anything. It is a matter of effort and gains. Look if you want to be a Star basketball player but you where born 5 ft 5 inches tall, everyone will tell you you can’t be a Star basketball player. I will tell you to look up Earl Boykins. If you’re dyslexic but want to be intelligent and profitable look at Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson. If you are deaf you can become a world class composer. If you are dumb you become knowledgeable. It’s all a matter of effort to reward. Some people will get more reward for less effort. Some people will get Zero reward to effort. Those people are applying their effort wrong. If you are 5ft5in and spend three days practicing your dunk. You have worked very hard and yielded Zero reward.
- I am a white non denominational Christian married to a practicing Buddhist. Successfully and Happily for five years.
- I’m a submarine qualified veteran of the US military.
- I have played the Alpha whenever the faith of a Beta is placed on me, I sheep dog as a Beta dolling out recognition and scorn to keep the group on mission (without the need for recognition as repayment), I enjoy work for the sake of work and find reward as a Delta aiding in mission success, I enjoy the positives of being a Gamma (constantly raising my intelligence and having quirks) while constantly battling the negative (the self-deception), and as an introvert isolationist patterns that result in Omega behavior that are par for the course.
This is a direct response to to Vox saying often that Gammas cannot become or be Sigmas. While I must admit that the default position of a Gamma will of course be “I’m a Sigma… that’s why I don’t fall on the hierarchy.” and that is of course false self-delusional Gamma bullshit, the Vox hierarchy is a fractal therefore an individual is themselves a fractal of Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Omega traits and behaviors.
Vox defines a Sigma as “The outsider who doesn’t play the social game and manage to win at it anyhow. The sigma is hated by alphas because sigmas are the only men who don’t accept or at least acknowledge, however grudgingly, their social dominance. (NB: Alphas absolutely hate to be laughed at and a sigma can often enrage an alpha by doing nothing more than smiling at him.) Everyone else is vaguely confused by them. In a social situation, the sigma is the man who stops in briefly to say hello to a few friends accompanied by a Tier 1 girl that no one has ever seen before. Sigmas like women, but tend to be contemptuous of them. They are usually considered to be strange. Gammas often like to think they are sigmas, failing to understand that sigmas are not social rejects, they are at the top of the social hierarchy despite their refusal to play by its rules.”
My basic argument is that Vox created the Sigma to justify his own place in the typical hierarchy because he is mother fucking boss Alpha, a Beta with a high requirement for faith, a machine of Delta, a highly intelligent Gamma, and rich in isolationist policies of an Omega.
Vox being Vox only fits into a hierarchy by being outside of it but is not rejected by the hierarchy. The first of many contradictions resolved by Vox’s own cognitive dissonance.
Vox had to create the Sigma because otherwise he would have to admit that he possess too many Gamma traits to be anything else.
This does not and should not disprove or invalidate the Sigma.
What separates the Sigma from the Gamma is “winning”. Gammas are not winners in their hierarchy because they are self-deluding. Sigma’s are winners despite not participating in the hierarchy. Gammas are not rejected by the hierarchy only tolerated for what they can bring to the team.
A Sigma is a winner of the social hierarchy game because the Betas acknowledge them and the Deltas respect them. Which is a handled as a threat by the Alpha. But the Sigma is not interested in usurping the Alpha. The Sigma cares for the social game as much as an Omega. Whatever the reward is for being on top of the social hierarchy the Sigma can achieve without use of the hierarchy
Take a high school basketball team as an example of a self contained hierarchy.
A) The Captain is the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. The other players function as Deltas. The water boy is an Omega.
This is a completely functional model and if the leadership and skill are high enough they are likely to win a good percentage of games. Now let me know if this next example sounds more like your high-school basket ball team.
B) The Captain is the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. Two other players function as Deltas. The water boy is an Omega.
The Star player has a natural gift for the game but a shitty self absorbed personality. He garners no respect from the other players and speaks about how he achieved victory all by himself. Even the body of the school cheering for him doesn’t like him as a person but he swears everyone loves him. He doesn’t respect the Alpha’s authority and often challenges his decisions, sometimes they win solely based on his performance and sometimes they lose based solely on his relationships and Gammatude.
This next one was my high school basketball team.
C) The Captain was the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. Three Deltas. The male cheerleader was the Omega.
I sat on the bench played 2 minutes a game which was pretty good considering I only went to practice one day a week. Dating the captain of the girls basketball team. The only reason I was on the team was because I was on all the teams. Stage manager for Drama, Student Council Rep, Class .Vice-President, Football, Track and field, and Cross Country.
If you can accept these as functional hierarchies then you can see how a rare Gamma can bring success to a group and why the Gamma’s are not excluded from the social hierarchy. If you don’t have enough Deltas then you will settle for a Gamma.
Vox is without a doubt a Gamma.
His definition of Sigma highlights his Gamma traits
hated by alphas because sigmas are the only men who don’t accept or at least acknowledge, however grudgingly, their social dominance
Sigmas like women, but tend to be contemptuous of them
In Voxiversity 9. The Socio-Sexual Heirarchy Vox elaborates on why the Gamma causes trouble within the hierarchy.
“Gammas are fundamentally unsatisfied with their position in the hierarchy and often believe they should be in charge by virtue of their intelligence.”
In the breakdown under Gamma Vox explains
“Gamma alternates between placing women on pedestals and hating the entire sex”
The chief trait and defining characteristic of a Gamma is his dishonesty. When a Gamma is called out on a lie he will double down.
Gammas often like to think they are sigmas, failing to understand that sigmas are not social rejects, they are at the top of the social hierarchy despite their refusal to play by its rules.
Gee, Vox you sound like a Gamma because you’re doubling down and contradicting the last statement defining a Gamma.
However, they are sexual rejects, not social rejects
Vox puts a special amount of focus on intelligence because he is a mother fucking genius. But fails to recognize that intelligence is not the defining feature of a Gamma. A Gamma takes whatever they have in way of virtue (intelligence, athletics, musical ability, comedy) and believe by that virtue they should be at the top of the hierarchy. Whereas an Alpha is at the top of the hierarchy because they understand their place in and responsibility to the social hierarchy. I think that having good Betas is the real difference. Gammas do not lead and are not concerned with the groups welfare because they are narcissistic meaning Betas will leave them for lack of respect.
I think Vox won’t admit his Gamma traits are stronger than his Alpha traits because that would lead to a poor classification. So he created Sigma and excludes Gamma from the discussion. To justify his Gamma traits and distance himself from the label of Gamma.
Here’s the rub everyone is a cocktail of all the Traits and Vox is a special drink known as Sigma. Omega to be content separated from the hierarchy. Alpha to be aware of status and how everything is perceived. Which more than makes up for his Gamma traits.

lol you nailed it bro, he is absolutely a gamma pretending he isn’t one. When I pointed out on his stream that gammas are the first to volunteer to be forum or chat moderators (not satisfied being another face in the crowd they need to be recognized) I got immediately banned (hit too close to home?). Also given the fact that he absolutely has physical traits consistent with a gamma and it’s pretty much case closed.
This is the perfect example of someone who can read, but doesn’t understand.
The argument here is that every-man is a Gamma. The hierarchy is a fractal every-man as an individual is everything. Some parts more than others.
And no I do not think that Vox is “pretending” that he is not a gamma. He has however created the term Sigma because of cognitive dissonance.
In Vox’s personal and professional hierarchy, which is neither yours or mine, he is more Alpha then anything. Luckily for him he has enough Alpha like Bravos, that are happy to maintain order while he is away being an Omega.
I’m approving this as the first comment as an example of comments that I do not allow on my lawn.
If you show no understanding of the argument presented. If comment only to say that you were triggered and didn’t read the article. If you twist the argument to justify your own delusions and poor behavior. You will not have a voice here.
It’s a big internet and an even bigger world.
I wish you the best Allen, but you too are a Gamma and that is why you were banned. (yes, it was close to home).
And yes Gammas are the fastest to volunteer
The Quickest to speak.
But Gammas are the last to action.
If you truly wanted to help, you’d work on becoming the man that Vox would ask for help.
I hope you read all of this gamma long response and make the rest of your day better by realizing your 100% responsible for why it might suck.
Theodore “Vox Day” Beale, a.k.a. Teddy Spaghetti, is a loud crank with a blog whose comment section is populated by cringing yes-men eager to fellate him, because he kicks out and bans anyone else.
Like many cranks, he’s invented his own vocabulary and assigned his own meanings to words. He has created some kind of bizarre and convoluted “socio-sexual hierarchy” that seems to be lifted from Brave New World. I guess that if you’re going to steal from 20th Century authors, Huxley is a tasteful choice.
Most of his blog consists of ranting about sportsball from across the Atlantic. He’s a tax exile. He says he left America to get away from Leftist politicians–and went to Italy, a nation under the control of its own domestic Communist Party for the past seventy years. Teddy Spaghetti is very opinionated about a place he chose to leave. One presumes he gets pretty frustrated after a day of getting capital-t Told by the neighbors, “we don’t care how you do things in America. Shut the fuck up or go the fuck back.”
When he’s not ranting about sportsball or American politics, he’s ranting about soyboys and “gammas” and “omegas,” the latter two terms somewhat opaque except that they seem to denote people he doesn’t like. Oh, and he loves to write masturbatory predictions about how China or Russia or Iran is going to destroy ‘Murika any day now, real soon now, Real Soon Now. Really. He appears to mean it. CHINA STRONK!
I will say that I have occasionally even seen intelligent things posted at his blog–usually in the comment section, usually not by him, and usually by people he banned for saying them.
Very funny. The fact this article exists serves as perfect testimony to how’s gammas react when they are faced with what they are. It suits the writer perfectly.

Scott, your comment highlights the reality of Ted Beale’s “groundbreaking”, “intellectual” writings on this issue: a so-called…”gamma”…quite simply is anyone who disagrees with, criticizes, or calls-out Ted Beale.
I think it is a kafkaesk trap: You either admit being a “gamma” or you show being a gamma by denying it.
Reminds me of “White Fragility”. Another kafkaesk trap: You either admit being “racist” or you deny it. If you deny it it shows the real depth of your racism that you dishonistly deny (maybe even to yourself).
Both traps analytical people as long as they do not take a step back and realize that the game is rigged. Which of cource will be interpreted as being in denyal of you gammatude/racism.
Both thougt systems seem sophisticated because they are highl effective in trapping your thougts in their web (or shall i say labyrint?), exspecially if you are prone to overthinking, which will propably be seen as a sign of gammatude by Vox Day deciples or as an annoying trait of toxic withness by critical race theory.
Both generally work by having a certain kernel of truth that is sufficiant to add the necessary amount of confirmation bias for those trapped in the labyrinth. It helps trapping people if they have either internalized the confirmation bias themself or are affraid of the judgement by other people that have internalized the confirmation bias or a combination of both. The solution is to step a way back, practise some practical stoicism (easier said then done if you do not practice) and decide to avoid overthinking it (accept for realizing its kafkaesk nature of course).
You can write down your lengthy thoughts about what you think might be a kernel of truth and why the rest ist flawd. But only after you realized the kafkaesk nature of the (practical application of the) lable/classification, took a step back, make sure that you can analyze the model/worlview/thought system in a detached was without permanantly thinking about yourself and being (potentially) labled and are willing to practice approaching a stoic mindset (you do not need to be perfect, only willing to use it as practice to became better) in light of the unavoidable labeling as lying, self-deciving gamma-in-denial/fragile white.

Translator: Ironically that is exactly what I need to make sense of your comment. You and the blog owner both seem like solid thinkers but very mediocre writers who have great difficulty getting your ideas organized and your points across effectively. Would you kindly re-think, edit, and then re-post your high-potential comment? Thanks in advance.
