Darkstream number 334: Unauthorized the road ahead

from the 31st minute mark Vox’s comments on sigma

“you are talking from a sigma standpoint i think Vox um well what other standpoint can i talk about you know i was thinking about that earlier today you know you’re just talking about yourself you’re just trying to justify yourself when you’re talking about Sigma and what i realize is that’s just not true because one of my best friends in university is more of a Sigma than I’ve ever been.

Massively, massively attractive to women ridiculously so in fact there were two other Sigma’s one a year ahead of me and one two years ahead of me that were at my university with me and you know here’s here’s a very Sigma thing to do I’m sitting there with my friend we’re having lunch together as usual it’s just the two of us you know neither of us belong to a fraternities or anything like that and um we were sitting there and he goes let’s go abroad next year i said okay where do you want to go so well you’re taking Japanese I said yeah I said let’s go to Japan I’m like you don’t speak any Japanese he’s like no but you do and like i’ll take a semeseter before I go ro something

the best part was we had arranged to get him elected senior class president already so he’s the senior class president despite the fact that he hangs out with pretty much no one besides me and then blows it off and goes to Japan.

You know legend

that’s it was so funny

then after college disappeared…”

In short Vox Day has justified the existence of Sigma to himself again though cognitive dissonance.

If Sigma are as rare as they are suppose to be, then how can the small sample size of Vox Day’s college provide him with four other men?

The key trait being toted as a Sigma thing to do is being “framed” as an avoidance of responsibility to the hierarchy of which the Sigma, Vox’s friend, has become the class president of.

I say framed because while I cannot discern the motivations of Vox’s friend, I can analyze the information that Vox thinks is relevant regarding his friends decision.

Why does this matter…?

It matters because Vox Day through his series on the socio-sexual hierarchy has and is crafting a great lens to understand the motivations of men and providing blueprints for how a hierarchy can function properly.

But as that lens becomes increasingly marred and damaged when looking at Gammas.

In direct relation to Vox Day’s inability to stop his own self deception and dissonance.

The less valuable the tool becomes and the further from truth.

Gamma’s are at the bottom of the hierarchy for some very good reasons. Least of which is their unhealthy self-deceptions and conflict avoidance.

Vox makes a few good remarks as to Gamma conflict avoidance and their fear of failure

in his latest Voxiversity

I do hope he takes his own advice realizing that he is not fooling anyone.

Vox Day is most Gamma, comfortable in Omega isolation, efficiently Delta, a high requirement Bravo/Beta, but a low responsibility Alpha.

If he wants to call that brew Sigma flavor, fine. But just as you can’t leave the sugar out of Coca-cola you can’t take the Gamma out of Vox Day.

Let me know, if anyone is interested in my thoughts on the Gamma and Alpha voxiversity and if you’d like me to explore explicitly how each of the tiers deals with and around failure.

Myself, I am failure avoidant not because I have suffered a lot of failures but because I have suffered so few that I don’t have the protection of callouses that come from earning blisters.

A short from before he was the ContractMan

The groans of the fallen and the powder smoke of long arms were settling. Just two men remained the captain of this band of deserters and a Scout from the party sent to bring them back. The clay walls of the canyon were stained with drying blood and ichor. A horse wheezing as it lungs choked on blood was the barricade the captain hide behind.

The scout kept his eyes on the red horse waiting for the captain to show. His short pistol ready to make him regret it. The sun was pulsing in the sky drying sweat from the Scout’s duster. The sun was blinding the Captain. He couldn’t make a move to turn and shoot down his pursuer.

“Tell me son what is your name and who is your commander that I may pass word to him from The next island that his men died without courage and bellies full of cowardice.”

“You may tell the Necros at the under gates or the barge master that ferries souls that Ruffin the Mouse, the grey skin, under orders from Commander Pearson took your last breath.”

The captain eyes had been closed resetting their apertures to take less light so he could look and fire upon the sound of the last man approaching. The Scout’s steps were heavy he had taken a bead in his off hand and his glove was crying to be removed as it filled with swelling flesh and pouring blood.

The Scout stopped five paces from the horse that sheltered the coward laying behind it. A twitch or two wouldn’t be suspect from the horse as it was beyond its death throws. The glint of golden rings from the gilded bridle was not where the Scout wanted to focus his eyes but a soft shine of steel and dot of blue inside the mane meant the Scout was in danger. With the captain trapping himself under the bridle of the horse to get a dirty shot at the Scout. A cunning plan for a coward.

Bold action stirred the Scout to step twice and jump. He knew where the head lay and hoped the captain had but the single pistol trained on him. His jump saved his soft gut from taking lead but his left leg was pierced with the a hundred hot needles that dug sharply into his side. His left took no sense from his mind and only screamed when he asked that his knees tuck themselves in so he could clear the dead colt.

The Scouts wounded leg did not tuck and dragged across the colt causing him to tumble with the momentum. The spin laid the two hundred and fifty pounds of muscle, bound to his broad shoulder frame, a top of Captain. The Scout’s pistol fired into the dirt result of a poor attempt to brace himself.

With the single shot breach loaded pistol expired, Fire climbing his left side, and the swelling sun drying the fluid from eyes allowing the dust of the canyon to cling to inside the Scout’s eyeballs. Blood lust over took the scout. The metal hilt and hollow tube which served him well in the fight moments before held as much purpose as a stone and with that stone he came down upon the Captain surprised face. First through his left arm which the captain raised in protest then against the side of temple and across the captains pointed cheekbones and rigid jaw line. Any feature which once was prominent and marked the Captain as handsome was ground into soft pulp by the Scout’s fist and firearm.

Ruffin the Scout tossed his single breach now marred with the former Captain’s gore aside and stripped him of his dual six shooters. While securing proof of his victory, movement caught his eye from the mouth of the opening in the carved rock canyon where the deserters made their last stand.

Long silk-like black hair being tugged away by the dry winds on top of a women laughing softly with delight. Skin as golden as caramel but not burnt by the desert sun, a voluptuous form hidden in patches by a loose weave of dull red desert plants.

“Is your tribe friendly to Freemen? I am in need of water and treated agave to clean my wounds.”

Ignoring the Scout’s words she continued to walk over the corpses of the slain. Her footsteps did not stir the settling dust or ripple the pools of men’s blood as her bare feet lead her around the aftermath. The Scout removed his gloves now and the pain of his hands swelling eased for a breath and felt as soft as a good bed. This ecstasy of relief was cut short by the needles which sprang from his leg and disabled his entire side bringing the large grey skinned man to his knees.

“Oh I see death is not done with this place then. If you wish to die here then die here warm heart. But do not dishonor my presence with begging.”

Her voice was soft and cool as the low breeze of dust over the hard rock desert. Even her insults and taunts were delivered with a smooth glow of as warm honey is poured. Her dark sugar coated frame drew closer and Ruffin could now see her face was carved as the classic beauty of the gods statues demanded. Not a dimple or raised pour. Eyes crystals of blue as clear as the oasis pools the desert herder’s chase.

“Very Well”

The Scout through shear will stood and spoke through the pain demanding his focus.

“Take me to your tribe. But if you are of the flesh eating outcasts and not of the Herders the first round will be for you and your body disgraced after I have drenched the plains in your cannibal kin’s life blood.”

Laughter from her honey soaked throat tossed over her shoulder was the call to follow. The Scout’s strides where long under his height but his wounds drag and bounce of her skip kept her out of arms reach. Out of the canyon and beyond the first horizon. The hard rock turned into soft brown sand, the hue of her caramel skin, resting over clay. The heat of the sand welded the dried blood stained pants to the Scout’s leg. The blood letting had stopped and each step alternated between a promises of catching the brown sugar coated honeypot and a reality of nerves firing explosions of pain.

“Stop” she turned and commanded from beyond his reach.

And the Scout halted sinking a half inch into the brown sand.

“You may die, here.”

Ropes from beneath the loose sand swirled up the Scout’s legs to steal his purchase from upright. As promised he flashed his arm and fired a shot from the Captain’s six gun at the devil who brought him here. She cried. The shot, not fatal but higher than he was aiming as the ropes uprooted and placed the large grey skin scout on his back. The ropes covered in scales darker than the sand and increasing in girth as they uprooted from the earth. These were the tails of snakes. Intuition became reality as each snake lifted its head. Each head, the size of a large wolves with proportioned snouts. They gave the dead scout a lick and hiss of the air. Without strong faculty in his left hand the Scout grabbed and held shut the jaws of the first snake. The surprise and recoil of the snake in his grasp lifted the Scout back to his feet as the other missed its dive and now whipped belly up in the sand. Showing a soft white under side he fired two shots down the center of the beasts belly its head now flopping as a fish inside a boat unable to summon the sea to correct itself. With his swelling hand still locked around the gnashing jaws of the remaining snake he fired a single shot which removed all the struggle from the serpent and loosened the tails hold on him.

Staring now into the eyes of the witch. Battle fury sent all pain from his mind.

“Now I’ll collect the treachery from your ass before I send you where your pets souls dwell.”

Soft waves of air pushed against the Scout as he drew closer to her. She was trying to cast a spell but was being ground. Blood was welling in her left collar. His first round had severed her light coverings hold. She now stood half bare. Without her snakes and her spells she was just a woman of exposed flesh. Fear filled her eyes and she ran now for her life not to lead the Scout but escape his wrathful lust.

Her pace was beyond what the Scouts stride could provide. She went from a taunting, bouncing statue of caramel sugar to a drop of dark night silk. Determination and satisfaction drove the Scout at a steady pace. Years of miles behind him allowed him to push through these miles. The dark spot, her soft night hair, began to fill out her classically curved form underneath as he closed the distance. Her breathe hard from unused lungs trying to work faster than ever before began to choke on the dry sparse air. The sun never let up its heat and she still had not stirred a single bead of sand even as her purity and life depended on it.

His out stretched arm could feel the tip of her silky mane but he couldn’t close his swelling fist to grasp her. She remained just out of reach straining and choking her steps. A hand on her shoulder gave the Scout’s knees as reason to cease and he dropped her into the sand under his collapsing tower frame. Turning her over under his strength planting kisses on his prize as she struggled against him. His exposed palm was burning smoke and smolder from her shoulder where he imposed his strength to keep her down. He drew the hair out of her face with his good hand. Where his flesh touched burns appeared. Through the screams of fear and pain he gently pulled her visage clear. The Scout would not be deterred by a glamour he knew her beauty and the rage in his heart knew her evil. Tears welled in her eyes of blue crystal as she gave away resistance to her an assault and began to accept his demands.

The heavens cried as well. A storm swept across the sand. Rain and thunder pelted from all directions at once without a sign of warning.

“The Queens Tears have saved me!”

She spat in the face of her ravager still under his strong hand.

Water fell from the heavens and swept across the wind. A blinding light of spell craft and a push of air as magic made its way into reality threw the Scout from his prize and through the blinding he saw the naked form of his prize melt into the sand. The cool rain calmed his heart bringing back his senses. Without the temptation of flesh before him, he had no reason to hold onto the waking world. Darkness a sleep as close to death as he had ever known overtook him.

“Can we wake him now?”

“He’ll wake when he is ready.”

4 steps to eventually accomplish anything

I’ve recently made a friend at my day job who as been with the job for ten years. He has decided he wants more out of life and has started his own business in the field of real estate flipping. He has paid a lot of money into training, how to run his business: advertising, legalities, and methods. He is even willingly to put in extra hours after his paying job to find success.

BUT

he hasn’t found success yet.

I’ve identified a couple of his personal weaknesses as they relate to his extra curricular endeavor. He is shy, introverted, and has little experience in sales. The greatest thing about this is that he knows these are his weaknesses.

Now that he knows these are his weaknesses he can work on improving them and break through.

Here’s the simple formula

  1. Attempt the feat

  2. Identify what skills, knowledge, and abilities played a factor in the feats success or failure

  3. Create your training program to improve

  4. Repeat

Step one: Attempt the feat

In his case the feat is to “try and make a sale”. He runs an advertising campaign then meets with potential clients (if his advertising campaign was successful). Then he’ll attempt to make a sale of his services.

The best part of this is how his feat has only two points of failure. If you want to succeed in a broad field and your feat has many points of failure it will be harder for you to isolate exactly which factors played a role in the success and failure of the feat.

Step two: Identify

In his case the amount of questions he has to ask himself are low.

Was my advertising campaign successful?

Was my attempt to sell my services successful?

If his campaign attracted an ideal client then the failure lies in the second question.

During his last pitch he noted that he was reprimanded for repeating himself and lost the confidence of the potential client at that point.

Step Three: Train

Like me this individual spends a lot of their time passively ingesting advice for successes in the industry and general motivation speakings.

So we already know how to remedy any deficit in knowledge and have that built into our weekly routine.

Skills require practicals for improvement

"Everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth."

-Mike Tyson

Practicals are those punches

Pitching someone will use your communication skills.

Since our day job involves no interaction with customers and sales. I’ve recommended that he find the time to volunteer or work in a heavy sales industry. That way he can get his practicals done. Giving him opportunities to assess his skill as a salesmen. Specifically I recommend Kirby vacuums or being a cold caller for a charity.

Skills rely on your abilities.

Abilities you train outside of practicals through exercises

In this case the key ability is this man’s ability to speak clearly

He will be talking into a recorder then playing it back. Till his pitch is clear and confident. He has saved his first recording so that after a few days of this exercise he will be able to mark his progress.

By excising and thus improving his ability to speak clearly and be confident in his words. This will lead to success in his practicals and beyond that success in the greater feat.

Eventually…

You may have to repeat this a hundred times. There will always be a new weakness you’ll be able to identify. Don’t be discourage. Work on the problem right in front of you till it’s not the problem anymore.

Making the most of the Facebook Algorithm

Al Gore GIF - AlGore DemocraticParty DanceOff GIFs

Observations and Statements are of my own opinion as of 2/27/2017 (27/2/2017) (1/23/25662B.E.)

First lets go over the “rules” of the game.

Your Facebook feed with show you posts from twenty of your friends and five of your liked or followed pages. Then it will feed you ads, recommendations, and guesses about content you might like.

Facebook will rotate out or silence pages and groups you follow replacing them with content that it thinks will keep you on the platform longer.

FACEBOOK DOES NOT KNOW THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN CONTENT YOU ENJOY AND CONTENT YOU HATE.

Facebook only watches what you like, comment, share and spend 1.5 seconds looking at.

Those are the rules for everything on Facebook.

With these rules in mind lets try to unpack what you want as an end result from Facebook.

If you simply want to stay in touch and follow the lives of your close friends go through your friends list pick 30 friends and over the next few days find meme’s and videos they will enjoy or they will comment or share and tag them.

After you’ve tagged them and they’ve commented, shared, or liked and you’ve done the same to things you’ve found on their timeline Facebook will get the idea that “hey we should just show you this persons stuff”.

About a month of active curation and you should have a feed that is full of content you genuinely enjoy and are satisfied with.

If you don’t follow this advice don’t be surprised when Facebook starts spamming your page with things you hate, causing you to leave nasty comments, and filling your feed with angry emojis.

[Note: if you want Facebook to filter out things that anger you. The best way to teach it is after every time you use an angry emoji immediately log out of Facebook for an extended length of time, at least five hours. Al Gore’s rhythm should automatically start dancing to your tune.]

There I have taught you how to use Facebook and enjoy your time on the platform.

Lets say you’re not here for fun and games.

You’re here to boost your visibility and launch a Facebook page.

First understand that after you’ve captured your initial audience you will be fighting with Facebook’s invisible paywalls and the four other pages that appear in your audiences feeds.

Facebook seems like a nice platform to create a page for your brand or business but it will lock potential consumers away from seeing your post based on a percentage of your audience. You’ve got one million Like/Follows/Group members well that’s great but only 1% will have the chance to see the post you’ve made.

Either pay or adapt your business model to capitalize on that 1%. Just keep this in mind when your reach has stalled.

If you want 10% to see your content then you’ll need to create consistent shareable content. For the solo pilot I recommend spending six solid hours planning, creating, and scheduling for publishing your posts for the next four days.

You should have a minimum of two posts per day. Interaction with commenters especially comments that reflect and encourage your target audiences sentiments are very important. Even if you can only comment on your breaks from work do that. Taking time out to bash a dissenter is highly amusing.

Remember the people who comment are a mere fraction of your audience. Greater is the number of people reading those comments. Greater is the number of people exposed to the post because you’ve done Facebook a service by keeping users on their Platform.

From the limited data I have

I’d say that for every 20 to 50 emoji is a comment. For every 8 emoji you should receive one share.

I wouldn’t spend a lot of energy on shares. Just take a shares as a loose guide for people willing to take action when you post a call for such. This will vary wildly whether you’re asking to “make this bitch viral” or “Sign up using my Promo Code”. Take your own metrics in this area.

What’s that you don’t have any reach at all? No audience? And you want to get an audience for free with little to no effort?

Frack off

you’ll never get anywhere without work.

Now that your in the mindset to actually listen. Identify the common interests of your target audience. Find Group pages that cater to those interests. Create three specialty posts that you will re-upload to that Group page. Every other day or once a week (using your best guess as to the temperament of your audience) post that specialty post that leans hard into that groups core interests.

There you have an audience, now keep creating content they want to consume, emoji, comment, and share. Now your audience will grow.

Until they change the Al Gore’s rhythm this should help you cultivate Facebook like a good gardener

AAA Gaming collapse of 2023

and how to stop it.

Look into the gaming crash of 1983 and you’ll find many internal and external pressures that lead to the demise of the industry. The crash of 2023 will have the same amount of confusion around it but ultimately the same cause.

Profit over Quality.

The fundamental flaw with a publicly owned company is that it has to continue to turn over and create profit for investors.

Stock has two inherit values

It’s dividend: what percentage of return a shareholder receives every quarter.

It’s trading price.

A stocks trading price is based on the expectation of it’s future dividends.

Now understand this is extremely simplified and is not the case with all stocks.

So when a company starts making a profit and dividing it among it’s shareholders if investors at large think that company will make profit in the future they will buy the shares at a higher price. When a company doesn’t live up to it’s projections investors will fear that the company will not make good on their return in investment as such they will sell their shares for a lower price.

Seems simple right a company should always do what makes the shareholders money.

Here is the flaw.

What is the highest profitable action in the short term is not always in line with the best possible action for the consumer.

Consumers buy AAA games because they are suppose to be the best. They have the highest amount of resources poured into them. The longest development cycles. They are marketed to create a place of social standing among gamers. If you’re a fan then you must have planned all fifteen variations in the franchise and bonus points for playing spin-offs and tie-ins.

These games do take a lot of time, energy, and money to come to market but they have to sell. Well, now that revenues are expected to be generated past initial sales via in-game transactions. The dividends provide to share holders have become quite high. Driving up the price of each share.

The customer base has been largely OK with upgrades and in-game micro-transations that are optional and do not affect the underlying mechanics or experience of playing the game.

Push back occurs when in-game transactions are necessary for progress to occur in-game.

Pay to win.

Pay to win games have high profits from the players that can afford to compete but these games have a short life cycle. When the prestige of being top 10 out of 10 million becomes being 1st out of ten players. That revenue which has now been passed onto the shareholders must be replaced.

With every passing generation of these games the PAYER base decreases and each new entry must work harder to capture that base.

Or they begin to cut costs and focus on striking the PAYER base before another company.

This philosophy does not care for the quality of the finished product and in fact being faster to a shrinking market is more important than being of quality after the market has already become established.

These cycles of trying to capture PAYERS leaving on game and hooking them on yours. Leads to shorter development cycles, a reduction in spending. All to satisfy shareholder demands of dividends from profit.

The false solution.

Just take your time and make great games. If the games are good you’ll keep your audience. The longer you can keep people invested and engaged with a game, the higher your retention and the longer you’ll retain PAYERS and turn PLAYERS into PAYERS.

Simply just make great games.

This is false because developers are trying to make great games and maximize profits for shareholders. Because while the consumer is concerned with the former, the share holder is consumed with the latter.

The real solution.

For the price of a new AAA title you, dear sir/zer/ma’am/miss/ziss, can one a share of the company that you are most invested in. Become a shareholder and allow the company to shift more revenue inside itself. Because you don’t really care about how much money the company makes you. You care about the franchise you grew up with and have grown to love not being destroyed to satisfy demands for profits.

Lets be honest you are not going to buy the next AAA and a share of company stock. But if you have found yourself not buying a game in a franchise you’ve enjoyed because of the companies practices then you should.

For the game developers

You are already in the practice of selling pre-order bundles. Consider adding stock in your company to that pre-order. Eventually the majority of outstanding shares will not be with investment managers and with your consumers themselves. Your consumers have the best long term interest in the company.

I’m not aware if such a thing is possible under SEC law. But if given the option I’m certain your fans would soon have majority over the company. And the two of you can go back to the good old days. You make the games they buy the games and fund your endeavor to make something new.

Vox Day is a Gamma

I’ve been watching the Darkstreams recently and I have to give my thanks for Vox Day’s Socio-Sexual Heirarchy. It has lead me to a deeper understanding of male hierarchy, as opposed to the binary Alpha/Beta pick up artist mode.

Vox is unwilling to acknowledge his own Gamma traits and that is why he won’t accept the possibility of a Gamma becoming a Sigma.

I will be referencing the blog post breakdown as well as Graduating Gamma.

Let me disclose my own bias’s as best as I can.

  1. I believe that anyone can become anything. It is a matter of effort and gains. Look if you want to be a Star basketball player but you where born 5 ft 5 inches tall, everyone will tell you you can’t be a Star basketball player. I will tell you to look up Earl Boykins. If you’re dyslexic but want to be intelligent and profitable look at Sir Richard Charles Nicholas Branson. If you are deaf you can become a world class composer. If you are dumb you become knowledgeable. It’s all a matter of effort to reward. Some people will get more reward for less effort. Some people will get Zero reward to effort. Those people are applying their effort wrong. If you are 5ft5in and spend three days practicing your dunk. You have worked very hard and yielded Zero reward.
  2. I am a white non denominational Christian married to a practicing Buddhist. Successfully and Happily for five years.
  3. I’m a submarine qualified veteran of the US military.
  4. I have played the Alpha whenever the faith of a Beta is placed on me, I sheep dog as a Beta dolling out recognition and scorn to keep the group on mission (without the need for recognition as repayment), I enjoy work for the sake of work and find reward as a Delta aiding in mission success, I enjoy the positives of being a Gamma (constantly raising my intelligence and having quirks) while constantly battling the negative (the self-deception), and as an introvert isolationist patterns that result in Omega behavior that are par for the course.

This is a direct response to to Vox saying often that Gammas cannot become or be Sigmas. While I must admit that the default position of a Gamma will of course be “I’m a Sigma… that’s why I don’t fall on the hierarchy.” and that is of course false self-delusional Gamma bullshit, the Vox hierarchy is a fractal therefore an individual is themselves a fractal of Alpha, Beta, Delta, Gamma, and Omega traits and behaviors.

Vox defines a Sigma as “The outsider who doesn’t play the social game and manage to win at it anyhow. The sigma is hated by alphas because sigmas are the only men who don’t accept or at least acknowledge, however grudgingly, their social dominance. (NB: Alphas absolutely hate to be laughed at and a sigma can often enrage an alpha by doing nothing more than smiling at him.) Everyone else is vaguely confused by them. In a social situation, the sigma is the man who stops in briefly to say hello to a few friends accompanied by a Tier 1 girl that no one has ever seen before. Sigmas like women, but tend to be contemptuous of them. They are usually considered to be strange. Gammas often like to think they are sigmas, failing to understand that sigmas are not social rejects, they are at the top of the social hierarchy despite their refusal to play by its rules.”

My basic argument is that Vox created the Sigma to justify his own place in the typical hierarchy because he is mother fucking boss Alpha, a Beta with a high requirement for faith, a machine of Delta, a highly intelligent Gamma, and rich in isolationist policies of an Omega.

Vox being Vox only fits into a hierarchy by being outside of it but is not rejected by the hierarchy. The first of many contradictions resolved by Vox’s own cognitive dissonance.

Vox had to create the Sigma because otherwise he would have to admit that he possess too many Gamma traits to be anything else.

This does not and should not disprove or invalidate the Sigma.

What separates the Sigma from the Gamma is “winning”. Gammas are not winners in their hierarchy because they are self-deluding. Sigma’s are winners despite not participating in the hierarchy. Gammas are not rejected by the hierarchy only tolerated for what they can bring to the team.

A Sigma is a winner of the social hierarchy game because the Betas acknowledge them and the Deltas respect them. Which is a handled as a threat by the Alpha. But the Sigma is not interested in usurping the Alpha. The Sigma cares for the social game as much as an Omega. Whatever the reward is for being on top of the social hierarchy the Sigma can achieve without use of the hierarchy

Take a high school basketball team as an example of a self contained hierarchy.

A) The Captain is the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. The other players function as Deltas. The water boy is an Omega.

This is a completely functional model and if the leadership and skill are high enough they are likely to win a good percentage of games. Now let me know if this next example sounds more like your high-school basket ball team.

B) The Captain is the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. Two other players function as Deltas. The water boy is an Omega.

The Star player has a natural gift for the game but a shitty self absorbed personality. He garners no respect from the other players and speaks about how he achieved victory all by himself. Even the body of the school cheering for him doesn’t like him as a person but he swears everyone loves him. He doesn’t respect the Alpha’s authority and often challenges his decisions, sometimes they win solely based on his performance and sometimes they lose based solely on his relationships and Gammatude.

This next one was my high school basketball team.

C) The Captain was the Alpha. The Beta his best friend. Three Deltas. The male cheerleader was the Omega.

I sat on the bench played 2 minutes a game which was pretty good considering I only went to practice one day a week. Dating the captain of the girls basketball team. The only reason I was on the team was because I was on all the teams. Stage manager for Drama, Student Council Rep, Class .Vice-President, Football, Track and field, and Cross Country.

If you can accept these as functional hierarchies then you can see how a rare Gamma can bring success to a group and why the Gamma’s are not excluded from the social hierarchy. If you don’t have enough Deltas then you will settle for a Gamma.

Vox is without a doubt a Gamma.

His definition of Sigma highlights his Gamma traits

  1. hated by alphas because sigmas are the only men who don’t accept or at least acknowledge, however grudgingly, their social dominance

  2. Sigmas like women, but tend to be contemptuous of them

In Voxiversity 9. The Socio-Sexual Heirarchy Vox elaborates on why the Gamma causes trouble within the hierarchy.

“Gammas are fundamentally unsatisfied with their position in the hierarchy and often believe they should be in charge by virtue of their intelligence.”

In the breakdown under Gamma Vox explains

“Gamma alternates between placing women on pedestals and hating the entire sex”

The chief trait and defining characteristic of a Gamma is his dishonesty. When a Gamma is called out on a lie he will double down.

  1. Gammas often like to think they are sigmas, failing to understand that sigmas are not social rejects, they are at the top of the social hierarchy despite their refusal to play by its rules.

Gee, Vox you sound like a Gamma because you’re doubling down and contradicting the last statement defining a Gamma.

  1. However, they are sexual rejects, not social rejects

Vox puts a special amount of focus on intelligence because he is a mother fucking genius. But fails to recognize that intelligence is not the defining feature of a Gamma. A Gamma takes whatever they have in way of virtue (intelligence, athletics, musical ability, comedy) and believe by that virtue they should be at the top of the hierarchy. Whereas an Alpha is at the top of the hierarchy because they understand their place in and responsibility to the social hierarchy. I think that having good Betas is the real difference. Gammas do not lead and are not concerned with the groups welfare because they are narcissistic meaning Betas will leave them for lack of respect.

TL;DR

I think Vox won’t admit his Gamma traits are stronger than his Alpha traits because that would lead to a poor classification. So he created Sigma and excludes Gamma from the discussion. To justify his Gamma traits and distance himself from the label of Gamma.

Here’s the rub everyone is a cocktail of all the Traits and Vox is a special drink known as Sigma. Omega to be content separated from the hierarchy. Alpha to be aware of status and how everything is perceived. Which more than makes up for his Gamma traits.

Company Structure

It is my hope that one day I can amass ten thousand fans of “Contractman” a serialized fantasy western.

But if I won the lottery tomorrow I would be able to launch my publishing company this will be the structure.

Bi-monthly publications of “Contractman” for a subscription of $10 a month or for individual sale at $6.49. With a subscriber base of ten thousand I will be able to cover all costs associated with this venture.

After the subscriber base reaches twenty thousand I would reduce the monthly subscription to $5.

After the subscriber base reaches fifty thousand I would further reduce the monthly subscription to $2.

This is not and will never be a for profit project. I want men to have the pulp they need to keep their reading skills high. I want to read these stories and I want everyone to have access to it.

I think as of current credit and debit processing fees being what they are going below $2 monthly would not be practical.

This is how the company will function.

A writer will write a Contractman novella approx. 40k words. It will pass to editor one who will “clean” the text then pass to editor two for approval and continuity checks.

Cover art will be produced to convey the content of the finished novella OR will be produced before the first word is written depending on the writer’s preference.

Cover art should feature Mouse in action against one of the books villains and a Pin-up of one of the book’s beauties. Due to the exotic nature of the fantasy setting Mouse and nature is also an acceptable cover.

Marketers/Producers will be responsible for promoting content, keeping subscribers, and activities associated with general growth of the company.

Staffing requirement:

Three to Four writers writing “Contractman” novella’s.

Two editors.

Two marketers/producers.

Two on staff cover artists.

After five years of successful operation.

Employee’s who have worked for this project for a term of five years will receive for the rest of their life or one hundred years, which ever is sooner, a pension equal to 15% percent of their average annual earnings of the last two years.

for example:

If you are the on staff editor and your monthly salary is $6,000 for year four and $7,000 a month for year five. Then the average would be $6,500 and you will receive a pension of  $975 a month for the rest of your life or one hundred years, which ever is sooner.

For every five years of service or equivalent production this 15% pension will be rewarded as a thank you.

“If you are not working yourself out of a job. I do not want you working for me.”

Parzival V. Parzival: Ready Player One Book V. Movie

Parzival V. Parzival:

Ready Player One Book V. Movie
There are fundamental differences from the printed word and the motion picture. Most of note is the change of Parzival A.K.A. Wade Watts from a competent hero to a try-fail hero. A competent man comes into a situation with enough enough knowledge and preparation to turn a challenge into a cake walk. A try-fail hero may have prepared but will have learned from the mistakes of his first attempt to overcome the challenge presented.
During the first race in the movie Parzival came to the starting line without even a full tank of gas to make it to the finish line, this is something a competent hero would not have done if it could have been avoided. And as expected Parzival almost ALMOST wins on this attempt. It is important to show that this challenge is indeed hard and have our hero fail because then when he succeeds we, the audience, know how hard the task truly was.
In the book Parzival enters a hidden tomb and has to battle the evil lich king on an arcade cabinet of 1982’s JOUST. It just so happens he has spent hours with his unofficial best friend Aech. Oh! my how lucky. With all this practice under his belt it’s not a shock when he emerges after a short round of three that he emerges victorious. No dramatic tension. No sense of scale. Most readers won’t have ever played a game of JOUST but almost all of the audience has a sense of the difficulty involved in driving a race.
Without the constant examples of how Wade spends his free time studying, watching, reading forums, about pop culture associated with the HUNT we would have to assume that he is a GARY SUE (someone naturally talented in everything and whose rolls of the dice always end in their favor). But that is the difference readers are shown that Parzival overcomes his challenges by preparing. His preparation material is limited to James Halliday’s lifespan and interests. Which is a lot but it is not infinite and Wade is able to find the time in the book to do this research.
In the movie however all research has been done off screen only revelations are show and with little time elapsed between them. The movie takes place in what could be about a week or two. The book takes months and months. Over the course of the movie Parzival finds himself with just the right amount of skill after failing and trying again or failing and lucking out of the consequences of that failure. The hero wins in the end not because of how hard he has worked and prepared but because he was scripted to win all along.
If it came to a fight between the book Parzival and the movie Parzival the winner would depend on how much preparation time each one was to receive as well as the medium this bout would take place.
Movie audiences would not like book Parzival one bit who reads to them perhaps closer to a Psychopath Obsessed than a regular guy. And I have heard no criticism, except the voice in my own head, against showing a regular guy get just enough of an edge to win the challenge.

This is why the try-fail movie hero is and has been bad for people. If all you know is what you’ve seen succeed in movies you are missing the true work that is done between the panels. You have missed the labor between the cuts. Most importantly when it comes to challenges in your own life you will not be at the table as prepared as you could have been.
Fortunatly for me and you special Asshowls who followed this piece to the end. You are the competent hero in your own life. At least you will be once you get back to working and preparing for that next test.
With Love,

Hppo

The Desire of Hppo

When I say I want to this company to be like Disney I don’t mean I want to make a shit ton of money. I don’t mean that I want to be pervasive in the culture or have a theme park. I mean that I want to cultivate and explore how rich and vibrate and rewarding I can make these worlds, properties, characters into our fans life.

So when I say I want to be like Disney it means that I want to create unique worlds and draft great stories from the lands there in.

Currently I have three universes

First: The Fantasy Fulfillment of The Contractman’s world.

Second: The Advice and Real World theory to practice of Bate and Switch.

Third: The Exploration of Theology and Occult through the Black Belt.

As of today August 31st in the year of our lord twenty eighteen, I am writing the second book in the Contract world.
